

The Once Upon a Time Contest is open to residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 21 years of age and older, and are parents or legal guardians of a child (age 18 and under) living with type 1 diabetes.
As long as the written work was inspired by your child's experience with type 1 diabetes, there is no restriction on themes. Feel free to submit a story, essay or poem on camping and hiking, going to birthday parties, playing on the soccer team or more. All entries must be in English, original and not previously published.

The winning entry will be selected by a panel of independent judges within the diabetes community. The winner will be selected by the following criteria: Originality & Creativity - 50%; Appropriateness to Theme - 20%; Inspirational Value - 15%; Sincerity - 15%.
The winner will receive the opportunity to attend the 2012 children with DIABETES annual international conference, Friends For Life, at the Marriott World Center Resort in Orlando, FL from July 4—8, 2012. The award will include air transportation, hotel and conference registration for a family of four. The winner will be contacted on or about January 30, 2012.
